Are you planning a destination wedding in Italy and looking for creative and timeless photography? I know it can be a difficult decision deciding whether to choose a photographer locally or to invest in booking a photographer based in the UK willing to travel. Whatever you decide make sure you are 100% comfortable. Personally I have photographed so many weddings across the globe now that I’m aware of the challenges and I’m fully equipped for whatever lies ahead.
I adore photographing weddings in Italy. There really is something super special about the Italian sunshine, food, culture and it’s people. I was delighted to work with Claire and Dan who’s gorgeous wedding took place in twinkle town, a stunning spot in the south of Italy called Santa Maria Di Castellabate. If you don’t know where it is, check it out. It really is beautiful.
I met up with Claire and Dan the day before the wedding as they took the opportunity to book me for a Loveshoot which was a great chance to explore the old town of Castellabate and have a little practice in front of the camera (not that they needed it at all). Check out that shoot here. It was great to work with the talented Julie and Emilie of My Secret Italy Weddings too who provide planning services for weddings in this little slice of Italian heaven.
I’m excited to be shooting more Italian weddings in Umbria later this year. If you’re planning your own little Italian love affair then I’d love to hear from you. Come and say hello and let’s chat weddings and your fave gelato combo!
Enjoy this beautiful Torre Perrotti wedding and scroll down to the bottom to read what Claire and Dan had to say about their destination wedding.
A few words from Claire and Dan. Thanks so much for fabulous testimonial too! You guys rock. x
How they met… We met at a friends BBQ. We found out after that we had been set up without knowing! They obviously knew we’d be a good match!
The proposal… It was New Year’s eve 2015/6, we had spent the morning skiing together in Tignes then stopped for a picnic on the edge of the slopes. I stood up to get ready and when I turned around Dan was on one knee with the snowy mountains behind him. It was snowing and very romantic. After sharing a bottle of champagne we skied down to meet our friends and celebrate with new years eve fireworks over the mountains.
More about their day… We always wanted to get married outdoors and didn’t trust the English weather and we knew we wanted to get married abroad in a beach setting. After deciding that we wanted to travel Italy for our honeymoon we thought why not get married in Italy then stay for the honeymoon. We wanted old style Italy and after a little searching we found beautiful Santa Maria di Castellabate. We also luckily found Julie Mckenzie at My Secret Italy Weddings who gave us the idea to get married on the terrace of Torre Perotti followed by the relaxed beach setting for our reception.
Favourite parts of the day… It really was the best day we’ve ever had and it was perfect for us. There are a couple of moments that I think about often which are very special….Seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day stepping out onto the tower terrace to Ave Maria. The moment they said we are husband and wife in Italian still makes me feel emotional thinking about it! And not to forget…..getting fun photos with our amazing photographer!!!
Supplier love… We wouldn’t have had the wedding we hoped for without Julie who arranged everything in Italy for us. We didn’t see our wedding venue until 3 days before the ceremony!
Ayesha Photography– I would recommend having a Loveshoot before the big day as Ayesha made us feel comfortable in front of the camera so on the day we felt so relaxed and Ayesha felt more like a guest who everyone loved!
Julie arranged everything else. I loved my flowers. – http://www.mysecretitaly.com/
What they wore… Claire: “Irene” by Willowby by Watters. Purchased from Ava Louise Bridal. Veil made to order and Dune shoes. Dan: Hugo Boss Shirt and Chinos, shoes were Jeffery West.
Advice from the happy couple… Let Ayesha do her thing. Our photos are the best wedding photos I’ve ever seen. Also picture your wedding then try not to get swayed by the craziness that can come with it.
Their first dance.. Turning pages by Sleeping at Last
Claire and Dan summed me up in 3 words… Talented, hilarious, creative
Finally, here’s a testimonial from Claire and Dan. Wow! Thank you so much. x
We were recommended a few photographers for our wedding and it only took a couple of minutes looking at Ayesha’s website before we knew her style would be perfect for the type of wedding photos we wanted. We knew from her portfolio we would have a great set of photos but she smashed all expectations and produced the best set of wedding photos I have ever seen! We didn’t want lots of posed group photos and instead Ayesha captured the relaxed atmosphere of the wedding. She also guided us and made us feel relaxed so that the photos look natural and an amazing reminder of the emotions we felt on the day. Ayesha went above and beyond, including going into the sea to get the perfect photo of my friends and I paddling in the sea!! I cannot thank Ayesha enough for agreeing to come to Italy to take our photos and I would recommend her to any future couple.
Simply stunning, beautiful and Dad just wow you’ve captured the emotion and the day here – AWESOME as always x
Thanks so much Richard! I really enjoyed shooting this wedding last year! x
