Grasmere Lake District Wedding Photographer

One of the things I love about my job as a wedding photographer is the network of fabulous friends and colleagues I have within the industry. It’s so important to know that other people have your back no matter what. This was so true at Karen and Ben’s Lake District wedding in Grasmere last year.

When a fellow photographer and good friend was desperately ill and was unable to shoot the wedding I was able to step in and help out. Now this is a really tough thing for any wedding photographer to do as we do everything within our control to make sure we never let our couples down so I know how bad they were feeling about it but it was definitely the right thing to do and they are only human after all.

Here’s what Karen and Ben had to say about me:

“Ayesha stepped in to save the day when our photographer cancelled due to illness. Given our time again I wouldn’t hesitate to book her. We were understandably a bit stressed but after we looked at her website we knew she was good! We chatted on the phone and she made me feel completely at ease ‘don’t worry, you’ll love me’ she said, and we did! Everyone did! She was absolutely brilliant on the day, putting everyone at ease and capturing all the moments and emotions that we wanted. We just wanted to enjoy our day and not spend precious time taking endless formal photos. Come the evening she was up dancing with everyone and she captured amazing sneaky dance shots as I think everyone forgot she was there taking photos. My house is now adorned with her beautiful photos and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. Based on our wedding my friend is already considering booking her for her 2019 wedding. We love her so much, she saved the day, and we’re a little bit sad she’s not one of our mates! Fabulous lady, can’t praise her enough.”

Aww bless you guys! You know we can be mates. Cocktails anyone?!

Karen and Ben were great to work with and all of their friends and family were super fun. It didn’t matter that this August wedding was so rainy and wet, the smiles on their faces were permanent fixtures all day long. I was so impressed that these guys were determined to get beautiful photographs that they braved heading out in torrential rain, onto a very muddy embankment to get pictures at the lake… I mean how rock star is Karen as she let her dress down on the soggy grass! Dream bride right there!

What Karen and Ben had to say about their Lancashire wedding:

How they met.. We met at a mutual friend’s 40th birthday party

The proposal… Nothing crazy romantic I’m afraid. He proposed on holiday in Croatia, just in our hotel room on the last night, I’d have hated a public one. It was a bit of a surprise though as we had only been together just over a year (A surprise when I found the ring a few days earlier that is!)

Why they chose to do the things they did and why… We decided to get married in Grasmere as it was the first place that we ever went away together and have always loved it since. We just invited close friends and family, no one we felt obligated to invite, and everything was just exactly what we wanted. Our parents said all along to us to just do exactly what we wanted as it was our day. So be selfish and plan the day for you and not everyone else.

Favourite parts of their day… All of it! I really thought I would find the day stressful and would hate being centre of attention but I absolutely loved the whole day! Ben’s favourite part was probably the food.

Some supplier love…  Everyone was brilliant. The cake, flowers and DJ were all the ones that the hotel usually use but we wanted an extra special photographer! I was really thrilled with my cake and flowers though, they got everything exactly as I wanted them. The DJ too I was worried might be a tad cheesy but he was ace and played everything we wanted and we had the best party!

What Karen wore… My dress was Pronovias

Advice from the happy couple… just to chill out and enjoy the day!

Their first dance… Elvis, The wonder of you

Karen and Ben summed me up in 3 words…! Fabulous, Fun and Friendly.

Finally a massive thank you to Sam at Samantha Kay Photography for second shooting this wedding with me!
