Shireburn Arms – Lancashire Wedding Photography by Ayesha Photography
Happy new year!
I’ve got a whole stack of beautiful weddings sat in the “To Blog” pile and I’m excited to share them with you. Here’s one from before I headed off on my travels back in December 2015… honestly where does time go?!
I loved capturing Zoe and Wez’s big day at the very lovely Shireburn Arms in Clitheroe. They were super fun on their Loveshoot too. They were tonnes of fun and it was a stunning day despite Storm Desmond deciding to make an unwelcome appearance!! Although we didn’t get to head outside it didn’t make the slightest difference. All part of the course with winter weddings I guess!
Enjoy the post and make sure you scroll to the bottom to read what Zoe and Wez had to say about their big day. x
A few words from Zoe and Wez
How they met
At high school (We were just friends then!) We started going out when Zoe went to University in Manchester and Wez visited nearly every weekend.
It was a Christmas day surprise in front of our families with one of Zoe’s mum’s rings.
A bit more about their day…
We knew we wanted a small country location with good food for the reception so when we found the Shireburn Arms, it was an obvious choice. We also didn’t want to be obsessing over having good weather for the day so decided on a December wedding. We had a ceilidh band for the evening entertainment so that the dance floor was always full and people would be more inclined to mingle. Zoe made candle jars for table centre pieces which also decorated the whole of the venue, making it really cosy looking. We had family members knit love hearts for the favours that we tied to candy canes to tie in with our winter wedding theme. We tried to keep everything quite simple so that it was about our special day and not over the top.
Favourite parts of the day…
When we were travelling from the church to the reception in the campervan and the rain was dripping in on our driver. Our photoshoot at the Shireburn which was nice to have a bit of time to ourselves. The ceilidh as it had the right amount of raucous about it! Staying over an extra night at the Shireburn was very relaxing and well worth it! The heavy rain (Storm Desmond) – people are still talking about how bad the weather was on our wedding day but it didn’t ruin anything for us.
The Dressing Room for bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses (www.thedressingroom-garstang.co.uk). They were so friendly from the first moment we stepped in the shop and made us feel so relaxed throughout the whole process.
Creative cover hire for venue dressing (www.creativecoverhire.co.uk). They dressed the venue exactly as we wanted it. When we got to the reception, it was just perfect!
Union Street Ceilidh band for evening entertainment (www.fiddlemusic.co.uk/union-street-band). We literally didn’t leave the dance floor all night! It was so much fun and got everyone up dancing.
Ruth Marriner florist (www.ruthmarriner-flowers.co.uk). The flowers were simply beautiful.
Broughton Wedding Cars (www.broughtonweddingcars.co.uk). Zoe always knew she wanted a cream campervan for the transport from the church to the venue so when we found ‘Mary’ the 1964 VW classic, it was perfect!
Advice from the happy couple…
Always have a good sense of humour and compromise!
