Great John Street Hotel Wedding Photography by Ayesha Photography
I’m delighted to share this beautiful wedding of Rob and Phil who got married at the super cool Great John Street Hotel in Manchester back in July last year. I knew from the moment we met up over a drink in town that we were going to hit it off and I was not wrong! We just had such a giggle from that initial meeting, to the Loveshoot in Manchester’s Northern Quarter to the big day itself. You know it’s been a good one when you end the night doing tequila slammers with your couple! And yes this is work 🙂
Great John Street is one of my favourite venues to shoot at in Manchester not only because of how cool, stylish and urban it is but for the surrounding area. Even if it rains which it did, there’s always loads to play around with. It was also fab to work with my mate Adam Carr again too who got that dancefloor rocking in the evening!
The boys looked super stylish in their suits and their Liberty of London ties. They chose to get ready together and I love it when a couples get ready together, it feels really special to be part of that build up and excitement between them both. The day was certainly emotional for all of the right reasons and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear or two behind my camera. I’m such a softie!
Thanks so much for having me along guys, I loved it.
Make sure you scroll down to the bottom to read what Rob and Phil had to say about their big day. x
A few words from Rob and Phil…
How they met…
We’ve worked together for 8 years
The proposal…
Phil’s very teary proposal came at the Top of the Rockefeller building. We were in New York for Phil’s 30th Birthday, It was a beautifully sunny day , we were both looking over Central Park when he popped the question.
More about their day…
We knew we wanted to be married in Manchester city centre, and after looking at the venues around the city, Great John Street was an amazing venue, it offered great outdoor views of the city, whilst also keeping all the guests together, the size of the spaces and décor also suited our tastes too.
Favourite parts of the day…
We both loved getting ready together, it was an experience that straight couples probably wouldn’t have, we both shared tears of anticipation, we couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle together.
Some supplier love…
We loved our wedding cheese cake from Dewlay Cheese makers in Garstang, near Preston. They deliver to anywhere in the uk, which took a stress out of taking it to the venue. www.dewlay.com
We also loved our DJ Adam Carr (http://www.adamcarr.com/) He kept our eclectic mix of songs going all night ensuing that the dance floor really was booming all night long! He also set up a web site for guests to request songs!
The string quarter was amazing and played anything our guests requested. They also learnt a new song for us, there is a light that never goes out, another Smiths song! They were really reasonable, the live performances on their web-site sold them to us! http://www.rondinostrings.co.uk/
Advice from the happy couple…
Don’t get stressed out, relax and enjoy every second!!
Rob and Phil’s first dance was…
We couldn’t decide on one song so we had two! The lyrics to Will Youngs Silent Valentine mean a lot to me and our relationship when we started seeing each other, and Phil couldn’t not have Morrissey and the Smiths, so we had please, please, please let me get what I want, and let all our friends and family join us on the dance floor.
Rob and Phil summed me up in 3 words…
You just…. Get stuck in!
Finally a lovely testimonial. Thank you guys!! Drinks soon please 🙂
